Rockville Begins Testing “Slower Speeds For Safer Schools” Program Jan. 3
Lower Speed Limits Around Three Rockville Elementary Schools Will Be in Place During Arrivals and Departures
Starting Jan. 3, and continuing through June, the City will implement several 15 miles per hour speed limit zones on roads adjacent to schools. Temporary signs will be erected approximately 30 minutes before school starts and approximately 30 minutes before school ends. The signs will be removed approximately 30 minutes after the official start and end of the school day.
“Protecting pedestrians all around Rockville is always a top priority of our officers,” said Rockville Police Chief Terry Treschuk. “We believe this program has a lot of potential to help keep our young pedestrians—and our young riders on bikes—safer as they head to school.”
This is not something that should be consider. But when school is in session this should be the standard for all our schools in around Rockville area
